First Instruction YearThe first DOGtime year starts with two classes (both with a maximum of 20 students)There are four evening classes a week between 18:45-21:45 hours. In the first course year the emphasis is on participation, cooperation, research, experimentation, making choices and artistic development. Some examples of the themes that have been addressed: - Alle Gegen Alle, on engagement, power and art - Private versus Public, on visible and invisible art - Apocalypse a Retrospective, on visions of the future and dooms - Cuba and the Big Sleep, on lies and ideals - Roots, on identity, origin and harvesting - Satellite of Love, on satellites, poetry and networks - The Phantom of Liberty, on masks, avant-garde and freedom. The programme is divided in three periods. Each period is finished by a DOGtime report, a public presentation of the assignments and change of the teachers’ team. Second Instruction YearThe second introductory year is diveded into two periods with one chage of teacher's team In the middle of the academic year. There are three evening classes a week between 18:45-21:45 hours. During the second year emphasis lies on reflection, deepening, development, independence, and decisive choice. The offered projects within the study programme deal with, for example, sound as a medium for content, while other projects invite you to make research in collaborative possibilities within boundaries of ‘time based arts’.The LAB focuses on supposedly apparent connections and necessary contrasts within the tradition of painting. Motif and engagement is also researched. Each period is finished by a DOGtime report and a public presentation of the students' work.LanguageAll classes in DOGtime can be bi-lingual (Dutch and English). Most students speak both Dutch and at least one other language. In the course we recommend learning Dutch as soon as possible as it is in the student's interest to fully integrate in the DOGtime programme.Gerrit Rietveld Academy offers a Dutch language course for non-Dutch speakers. |
